This piece I just found on CNN is so important. It's exactly what I feel about where I'm at politically. I heard Frank Schaeffer on NPR a few months ago, talking about his book, "Crazy for God", and how he and his father (regrettably) were some of the original voices of right-wing politics that are so frustrating to me. It's inspiring to see how Mr. Schaeffer has had such a significant change in view point as he has gotten older. Has anyone read that book?

Don't the Romans get you down. Jesus would have been neither a conservative, liberal, or moderate in this time.
Rather, he was more concerned about the substance of one's faith. As a result, he eschewed labels.
That's something that today's Christians could learn alot from. Being a "liberal" Christian is no better than being a "conservative" one if we define our Christianity through the prism of modern labels like those two.
Frankly, Jesus would have been impossible to label since he would have taken such a seemingly disparate (at least in how we define things today) collection of both liberal and conservative views on a wide variety of issues that both sides would probably have thrown up their hands in confusion.
Amazingly "unlabel-able"...
Thanks for your comment, Chad. You're right, we SHOULDN'T have to define our faith by these modern labels...it's ultimately about the heart.
